Senior Advisor on Europe/Central Asia at Saferworld, UK
Craig Oliphant, OBE, is currently Senior Advisor on Europe/Central Asia at Saferworld, based in London. Previously, until the end of 2010, he worked in the diplomatic service and was Head of the Eastern Research Group in the Foreign Office, dealing with Russia and Eastern Europe. In the first half of the 1990s Craig held posts in Brussels at NATO as an advisor on Russia/Eastern Europe and was then at the OSCE in The Hague, as a regional advisor to the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities. Before that he was at the UK MOD and worked for several years in the 1980s at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Munich. Craig has published widely on Russia/FSU affairs. He is married with two daughters.
